Helping People Find and Follow Jesus

We want you to relax. We know it can be confusing and intimidating coming to a church for the first time. We want you to feel welcomed and free to check us out, no strings attached. You can chill with your coffee and hear the live band. Visit our cafe for a latte or mocha. As soon as you arrive on campus look for the signs that say, "FIRST TIME?" Just follow those signs and you'll end up in the right place.
Expect to visit an exciting church service with practical teaching and creativity. We will give you the Word on Sunday that you can use on Monday. We want you to learn and grow at your own pace in Christ at 7SD.
Kids and Youth are Important
Your kids are the most important thing to you, so they are they are a priority for us. We work hard to ensure your children have a great eperience that is safe, fun, spiritually challenging, and appropriate for their age group.
We do background checks on all our volunteers and every child of elementary school level and younger are checked in and given identification tags so you know they will be safe.
Fancy Dress is Not
Expect a casual environment where you can come as you are. Wear shorts, sandals, whatever. Just wear something!
Live, energetic, faith-filled music
Expect to hear live music that rocks and brings you closer to the heart of God.
A PLACE WHERE NO PERFECT PEOPLE ARE ALLOWED
No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, you are welcome at Seven Church. No one at this church is perfect. We have all blown it. Now, we are just trying to figure out together what is the next right step and how to put that step into action.
Messages that Connect
We believe that growing is more about discovering what God wants for us, not what God wants from us. So our messages are never high pressure pitches or long drawn out guilt trips. Instead, we work hard to keep things simple, doable, and honest.
We like to have fun, so don't be surprised if you find yourself laughing. At the same time, we are convinced that applying truth to our lives makes a difference, so we do not shy away from hard subjects. We just do so with sensitivity and a focus on real-world circumstances.
The bottom line is, we want to give you something on the weekend that you can put into action during the week.
Seven exists to help people find
and follow Jesus seven days a week
This is the "why" of what we do. We are convinced that every person needs and desires to know the grace and power of having an authentic, life-changing relationship with Jesus Christ.
OIKOS: The 8 to 15 people in your relational
network that God has connected you to
We are convinced that your relationships are no accident. Every person has been placed where they are in order to receive God's love from someone in their relational world or to give it away to someone else.
That means the reason you have your job, the reason your kids are on that softball team, the reason you were born into your family are all the same: God wants to use you for His purposes.
That's why we work so hard to make our Sunday morning experiences as meaningful and engaging as possible. We want you to be excited about bringing your friends, co-workers and family to church.
Our core values define our ideals and help
us measure our effectiveness in mission
Everything we do revolves around five core values that keep us on track in helping people follow Jesus with their hearts and lives. These values are:
Found People Find People
Remember your 'Oikos', the 8 to 15 people you interact with on a regular basis, and share what you have found.
Growing People Change
A deeper commitment and growth should be evident in the life of a follower of Christ.
You Can't Outgive God
When you support God's work, He provides all you need.. and more!
You Can't Do Life Alone
Joining a Small Group and/or a Ministry Team will help you stay on track and gain new lifelong friends.
Saved People Serve People
We are called to serve not only each other, but also our community.
God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and are one God. (Genesis 1:1, 26, 27; 3:22; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians 13:14)
We are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character. We are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although we have tremendous potential for good, we are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called “sin”. This attitude separates us from God. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6a; Romans 3:23; Isaiah 59:1, 2)
We are created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are places of eternal existence. (John 3:16; John 2:25; John 5:11-13; Romans 6:23; Revelation 20:15; 1 John 5:11-12; Matthew 25:31-46)
About Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of kings, and Lord of lords. (Matthew 1:22,23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14, 15; 1 Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 1:3, 4; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Timothy 6:14, 15; Titus 2:13)
Salvation is a gift from God to all people. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can we be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life is assured the moment we receive Jesus Christ into our life by faith. (Romans6:23; Ephesians 2:8, 9; John 14:6, 1:12; Titus 3:5; Galatians 3:26; Romans 5:1)
About Eternal Security
Because God gives eternal life through Jesus Christ, when we truly accept Him we are secure in salvation for eternity. Salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by our self-effort. It is the grace and keeping power of God that gives us this security. (John 10:29; 2 Timothy 1:12; Hebrews 7:25; 10:10, 14; 1 Peter 1:3-5)
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christ-Follower with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Christ-Follower seeks to live under His control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 2:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:1)
About the Bible
The Bible is God’s Word to all mankind. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error. (2 Timothy 3:16; Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6).
The Story Begins
Seven: A Church Within a Church
Our story begins in 2002 at High Desert Church in Victorville, CA. Pastor Jeremy McGarity and a team of a few other young enthusiastic leaders began meeting weekly to develop a ministry that would not only reach people who did not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, but to also reach people of a different generation. As the years went by, the church within a church grew to well over 1,200 participants. God not only began to grow the community in numbers, but He also began to grow the church into a family.
Time to Plant a Church
Seven Moves to San Diego County
After five years of ministry in the High Desert, the decision was made to plant a new church in San Diego. On February 10th, 2008, Seven San Diego began ministry in Chula Vista, CA.
After some time in Chula Vista, Seven launched a second campus at the Community Center in Lakeside. On December 24th, 2009, Seven San Diego celebrated Christmas Eve in two locations. God grew the Lakeside church rapidly, so before long that became Seven's singular ministry location.
Seven Finds a Home
In 2015 Seven was looking for a permanent location. We had launched the IMPACT campaign to fund the purchase of a new property and finance a building program.
God, however, had better plans. Through his leading, Seven merged with another local church in Lakeside. We are now fulfilling our mission to help people find and follow Jesus from our permanent location.
